What to Bring
Bring any current glasses, a list of medications, and your NHIS card if you have one.
Arrive Early
Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your appointment for registration.
Eye Drops
Some examinations require dilating drops. Your vision may be blurry for 2-4 hours after.
Bring a Companion
If having dilation, bring someone to help you travel home safely.

How often should I have an eye examination?
Adults should have an eye examination every 1-2 years. If you have diabetes, high blood pressure, or a family history of eye disease, annual examinations are recommended. Children should have their eyes checked before starting school and regularly thereafter.
Do you accept NHIS?

How long does an eye examination take?
A comprehensive eye examination typically takes 30-45 minutes. If additional tests like OCT scanning or visual field testing are needed, it may take longer. Dilation adds approximately 20-30 minutes waiting time.
Can I drive after an eye examination?
If your eyes are dilated during the examination, your vision will be blurry for 2-4 hours. We recommend bringing sunglasses and arranging alternative transport home if possible.
Do I need a referral to see the specialist?
You do not need a referral for a routine eye examination. For specialist ophthalmology consultations, a referral from your GP or optometrist may be helpful but is not required.
How quickly can I get my glasses?
Standard prescription glasses are typically ready within 3-5 working days. Complex prescriptions or specialty lenses may take longer. The exact timeframe will be confirmed when you order.
